Getting to Crestwood is easy...

From the South (Hartford, New York): Take Interstate 91 North to Exit 28A in Bernardston, MA. Go East on Route 10 into Northfield. Just north of Northfield Center, Route 10 and Route 63 form a wye. You can take Route 63 to Hinsdale, NH and Route 119 East into Ashuelot or you can take Route 10 to Winchester, NH and Route 119 West into Ashuelot. Either way its about 15 minutes from Bernardston

From the North and West (Brattleboro): Take Interstate 91 Exit 1 into Brattleboro, VT. You will be on Route 5. Just before Brattleboro Center, turn right onto Route 119. You'll cross the Connecticut River and Route 119 will take you into Ashuelot. Its about 20 minutes from Brattleboro.

From the North and East (Keene and the Airport): Take Route 10 South to Winchester and Route 119 West into Ashuelot. Its about 30 minutes from Keene.

From the East (Boston): Route 2 West to Route 63 into Northfield is the easiest (see "From the South" for directions from Northfield). Its about 2-1/2 hours from Boston. Other routes off Route 2 are Route 119, meandering from West Concord directly to Ashuelot, Route 140 from Westminster onto Route 12 through Winchendon to Route 119, and Route 32 from Athol to Route 119 in Richmond, NH.

Once you're in Ashuelot Village on Route 119...

Just east of the village you'll see a white covered bridge with a red roof. Turn onto the bridge and bear to the right once you've crossed the river. The road is narrow and begins up a long hill. You'll pass a small cemetery on your right. A little further up the hill by a farm, the road changes from pavement to gravel. About 1.8 miles from the bridge you'll see a barn and a sugar house on the right (if its early Spring you may see steam billowing from the building as they turn sap into maple syrup), a dead end sign by a group of mailboxes, another sugar house and a log cabin. Turn left there and continue up the hill. You'll be on Scofield Mountain Rd, which probably won't be marked, as signs don't last too long. Crestwood is a half-mile farther on the right. Drive past the gatehouse and pass the pond - the Chapel and Pavilion will be on your right - we'll be expecting you.

From the grounds you'll overlook the Connecticut River valley south beyond Mt. Tom into Connecticut. To the west and north you'll see almost the entire southern range of Vermont's Green Mountains, usually as far north as Mt. Ascutney. Welcome.
